Rocky Mountain High - Adult diapers... nah!

Hello Everyone! Once again I am taking my sweet time to update my blog. Unfortunately my laptop is out of commission at the moment aka I dropped my laptop onto my kitchen floor and now I need to take it in to get repaired. I am currently researching the most inexpensive and sufficient repair options. So for now I am only updating my blog when I am able to use my boyfriends computer (he's the sweetest!).

Enough about my problems and on to something more exciting! This blog post is part 2 of my Colorado trip. My best friend Angie and her husband Justin took me to Heritage Square in Golden Colorado. This little village has Victorian style buildings, lots of games and rides for the kiddos but the main attraction is their Alpine Slide.

The Alpine Slide is a 1/2 mile track where you grab a sled and slide down the mountain. When I was heading towards the ticket booth I felt a sense of fear and intimidation come over me. The slide looked so far away and I thought to myself "This shit can't be safe." I also was afraid that I might pee myself. I know that sounds strange for a grown up to say that she might pee herself while going down a slide but ever since I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis I have avoided any amusement park rides or thrill seeker rides. The fact is that something so simple like driving in a car can triggered the sensation to need to tinkle. This happens when I feel that I'm too close to the vehicle in front of me. I get the urgency to need to go numero uno. Trust me I know how weird what I'm saying sounds to someone who doesn't have this condition but this is something that I have had to deal with for almost a year now and it's almost a normalcy to me. I'm sure you could understand now why I'm avoiding any thrill seeker rides since even riding in a car makes me need to go! It's not as if I thought I was going to pee to the extent where my shorts are drenched but I thought I might tinkle a little which is embarrassing enough.

So after we bought our tickets we had to take a chair lift up to the top of the mountain. The chair lift alone was scary. It was old and beat up and I was praying to skinny Buddha, chubby Buddha, baby Jesus and grown man Jesus that we wouldn't fall to our death. Once we got to the top I was contemplating which slide to take. There was a slide for kids and intermediate and it was suggested that any beginners should definitely take that slide. The second slide was the advance slide which is for grownups and anyone who is a pro. I chose to go down the intermediate slide and honestly I didn't feel like I got my moneys worth. I shouldn't of allowed my bladder to get the best of me and I should of been more bad ass and taken the advanced slide. I guess I shouldn't of allowed myself to get so intimidated but oh well I know better for next time. Note to self I do not need adult diapers just yet no need to take a trip to Costco and load up on Depends this girl is good... for now.

Below are some pics or Heritage Square and The Alpine Slide. Enjoy.

Hamster ride for kids... I found this to be a bit disturbing.

Me freaking out while waiting in line to buy my ticket for the Alpine Slide. Major Wus face right now.

Left: Heading up to the Alpine Slide. Right: The finish line.

About to take off. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

One last view of the Alpine Slide.

So that was our Alpine Slide adventure! Until next time!

Rocky Mountain High - Wear sweatpants.

Hiya! It's been along time since my last blog post and I'm sorry for being MIA. I have had some major changes in my life and I've been doing some soul searching lately. It's good to reflect on where you are at in your life and how to better yourself to become a more well rounded person.

Today's post is about a recent trip I took to Colorado to spend quality time with my best friend Angie. I flew into Denver, CO on her birthday, it was her wonderful husband Justin's idea to have me fly out and surprise her. Justin used black gaff tape to cover the lenses on the sunglasses he had Angie wear while waiting for me at the airport. Angie was definitely surprised to see me but I think we kind of gave it away because Justin informed her that the person that's coming is lost in the airport. Angie has known me since we were fifteen so she knows just how directionally challenged I am. To be fair the Denver airport is freaking confusing!

When I landed in Denver the flight attendants didn't provide the passengers with the baggage claim number or even where the baggage claim was located. So I did what anyone in my situation would do... I followed anyone who I recognized that was on my flight. I was creepily following this one lady that I knew was on the flight I was. She went down the escalator and was about to get on a tram. I thought to myself "WHAAAATTT?" The only time that I ever took a tram from an airport is in Chicago to go downtown. I knew I wasn't trying to go downtown so I decided not to get on the tram. Justin and I played phone tag for a while trying to figure out how the hell do I get to the baggage claim? Finally I asked one of the attendants working for Southwest and she informed me what my baggage claim number was and that I am suppose to take the tram to baggage claim. Once I finally arrived at the baggage claim area Angie had enough time to think about who she thought would fly out for her birthday and since it took me what felt like around an hour to get my directionally challenged butt to baggage claim she pretty much knew it was me.

I had a funtastic time visiting my full Caucasian sister (a nickname I gave Angie) below are some foodie pics from my trip to Colorado. Beware that the portion sizes are for people who frequent Costco and Sam's club. I suggest wearing sweatpants when visiting these restaurants, they give you more room to grow aka your belly will expand!

The Dark Horse- known for their burgers and Rocky Mountain Oysters aka Bull balls... very chewy.

Getting my half Asian on. Peace Everybody!

Giant Burger from Jack N Grill. Wowza!

Giant Burger and Sopapilla from Jack n Grill

That's all for now! More Colorado pics to come your way soon!

So to catch you guys up on what I've been up to... What, what! I am channeling my future self 30 years from now. I'm going to be one hip Grandma... Since I don't even have kids yet I might be jumping ahead of myself. I might end up being a crazy old cat lady who might die alone... Awkward!

MAC makeup test

I purchased a couple of MAC products recently and have been testing them out these last couple of weeks. I've never used anything by MAC before and was curious to see if I would have success using their makeup. Since I started wearing makeup when I was a teen I always had issues with eyeliner and mascara running down my face within an hour after applying my eye makeup. I have tried so many brands and nothing seemed to work for me.... Until now! MAC's black track fluidline works great on me! My eyeliner stayed put for over seven hours the first time I used it. Even when it started to smudge a bit it was hardly any damage done which is a great relief compared to my eyeliner usually running shortly after applying it. It would make me look like a goth chick with way to much eyeliner running down my face! This is not me making fun of goth girls in anyway it's just that I never intended for my makeup to look gothic therefore it shouldn't! A tip to keep in mind is to make sure that when your applying the fluidline eyeliner that you give it time to dry before messing with it. I noticed that when I started reapplying more eyeliner on the area that I've already applied and didn't wait for it to dry my eyeliner would begin to smear in a couple hours. So remember to have patience grasshopper. I had myself a Karate Kid moment... moving on! I also tried MAC's Opulash Optimum Black mascara which not only didn't smear it also made my lashes not look clumpy the way other mascaras have. All in all I feel that these two MAC products are worth purchasing if you have the same issues with eyeliner and mascara running down your face like I use to.

Day to Night SpArKlEs!

Left: Daytime look Right: Nighttime look

My life seems to consist of me packing almost every weekend. Even though my boyfriend and I live in the same city the commute is not exactly ideal and sometimes can take up to an hour to get to each others places. My boyfriend lives in NoHo and I live in west LA, the commute can be stressful so instead of stressing out about traffic we usually will plan in advance whether he will be coming my way or if I will be staying with him over the weekend. I usually stay at his place mainly because my upstairs neighbors are ridiculously loud especially around 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning. They are the worst! Since my boyfriend and I both like to sleep in on the weekends his place is usually ideal. I've been packing a weekend bag almost every weekend for over a year now and have come to the conclusion that when it comes to packing I need to pack lighter and pack pieces that can easily be used for daytime wear as well as going out on the town at night. Today's blog is an example of doing just that. I hope this post inspires you to pack pieces that can easily be used for several different outfits the next time you find yourself needing to pack for a weekend get away.

DIY Gift Giving for Dudes

Happy Thursday! Today's blog is about gift giving for that special guy in your life. As a girl who loves to craft and thinks that homemade gifts are the most meaningful gifts I often think about what type of DIY gifts would be perfect for particular people in my life. One thing that I struggle with is creating gifts for male family members or my boyfriend that wouldn't be considered girly. So for my boyfriend Brian's birthday this year I made him his very own Man Stuff (box). I didn't actually build the box myself, I am not Ron Swanson. I purchased the box at Michael's along with the paint brushes, acrylic paint, gel medium- Liquidex, sponge brushes, modge podge, sand paper and clear coat sealer. I drew the baseball and football helmet and used stencils for the lettering, shark and spider on the lid of the box. I transferred laser jet images onto the box along all four sides of the box. If you click on the DIY section of my blog and scroll down to DIY Wood Transfers I have provided instructions on how to transfer the laser jet images onto wood. After I created the box I filled it with a bunch of goodies that I know my babe loves. Below are some pictures of Brian's super manly Man Box.

Coffee, Dark Chocolate and Beer! I know the way to a mans heart.

Boom! There you have it Man Box by Mae Robbins. Now you too can create a super cool man box for the super stud in your life. More posts coming your way soon! Until next time!

San Diego Zoo

Hi Folks! Happy Humpday. Half way into the work week just two more days until TGIF! Since it is only Wednesday I will not jump for joy just yet. I will however share with all of you a fun trip Brian and I took recently to the San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Zoo is by far my favorite zoo I have ever visited. There's so much to see that there is actually two different zoo's you could visit. The San Diego Zoo which has hundreds of animals to feast your eyes on and the Safari Park which has a lot of birds and animals that are based in Africa. We decided on the good old San Diego Zoo, we were members of the zoo for a year but unfortunately our memberships have expired recently. (Sigh) I guess that means we have to renew them! Aw Yeah! Below are some pics of some of the animals we were able to visit with during our latest adventure to the SDZ. Yes I meant to say visited because we were able to sit down and have a cup of tea with the animals and discuss world politics, jazz music and Scientology... Just Kidding!

The beautiful greenery.

Boom! Animaltastic! I hope you guys enjoyed my zoo pics. More posts coming your way soon. Until next time have a wonderful day and a funtastic night!

Mae
