Hello Summer Ombre

Hello internet land long time no see. I know I've been a very lackadaisical blogger lately and I am vowing to change that from here on out.  I've had a lot of changes in my personal life within the last month and a half. I'm not sure I'm ready to disclose the challenges I have had to face but maybe one day. One welcome change is that I recently changed my hair color and style which I am very happy and excited to share with all of you! I've been loving the ombre trend and have been tampering with the idea of giving it a try and as of just two days ago I went ahead and went for it! I knew I wanted something lighter for the summer but I also was nervous to go to light because I naturally have dark hair and usually only go a couple shades lighter if I dye it. The picture below was my inspiration for wanting to go lighter shades of ombre.

This picture of Rachel Bilson I found while searching the world wide web (yes I did just write that) I loved instantly. I was really drown to it because her roots seemed only a shade lighter than mine. I felt that if she could pull off this light colored ombre look maybe I could as well? I found a great hair salon near where my sister lives called Spallon and was entrusted in the hands of a very sweet, outgoing and knowledgeable hair stylists name Kirsty who really eased my mind about creating such a drastic change in my appearance. She was just as excited as I was and also provided me with a great salon experience. I'm sure y'all can relate to having that anxious feeling when you venture out and try a new salon for the first time. She really made me feel special and the icing on the cake is that since it was my first visit my hair cut was for free! What a deal! Or shall I say steal? Any who all and all I was really happy with the way my hair turned out. I'm still getting use to how much lighter it is but other than that I'm pretty satisfied with the end result.

New Year's Celebration

Happy New Year Everyone! I'm hoping this year will be the year that I shine in every aspect of my life. I've been thinking of my new years resolution and goals to help me improve on some things that are not so balanced in my life. I hope every one of you were able to celebrate on New Year's Eve and were surrounded by friends and loved ones. Brian and I had a great time sharing laughs and drinks with friends. We got to meet our friends Helen and Jason's new puppy Jameson who is just too cute for words. He looks like to teddy bear! We also got to count down the new year with our very own new years ball drop thanks to Helen and Jason's neighbor's, very creative! We also went out to The Federal (NOHO) for a little dancing... and some people watching. I hope that didn't sound creepy but I'm not much of a club girl so when I am in that environment I tend to like to watch the drunken sloppy mess surrounding me. It makes me giggle especially when you spot a random shoe at the bar and panties left just chilling in the ladies room. Oh good times! Another fun element from our New Year's celebration was when one of our friends brought wish paper. We all got a piece of wish paper (reminds me of tissue paper) wrote our wishes, crinkled them in our hands and created a cylinder like shape to stand them up on the ground (outside) and burned the paper from the top and once the paper turns to ashes it floats in the air and you have to catch it and blow the ashes away to make your wish. So cute! Stinking adorable!

Below are some pictures of Brian and I on New Years.

Anniversary Dinner - TAKAMI

Yesterday Brian and I celebrated our two year anniversary. Brian surprised me with reservations to Takami. It's a sushi restaurant/lounge located in downtown Los Angeles. It's on the 21st floor of a building that's located in the financial district with a great view and really delicious food. It was also the first time that I missed watching a Bears game this year... luckily they were airing the game at the bar. Brian could see the reflection of the TV airing the game from the glass window. I had him give me updates whenever the Bears scored... I also got up a couple times during dinner to take a sneak peak at the bar. I'm like one of those husbands who are constantly checking their phones for football updates. Not proud of myself but the first step is admitting it. I'm very lucky to have a boyfriend that understands my Chicago Bears obsession. I got to say my man looked very handsome last night. I guess I'm one lucky girl for more than just one reason. Below are pics from our romantic night out.

Sunday Funday

Hi there! Happy Monday, today was the first day of the year that actually felt like fall during the day in Los Angeles. Definitely sweater weather happening and I am oh so excited about it.

I had a wonderful weekend and Sunday was exceptionally wonderful. We watched the NY Giants win there second game of the season (they've been having some issues this season just in case any of you aren't following the NFL). We also went downtown to take a tour of Angel City Brewery and also had some good eats at Wurstküche which has some exotic and delicious sausages I enjoyed the alligator and pork sausage which was YUMMY! Yes with all caps because it's just that good. Below are some pics of our Sunday fun day.

Pumpkin Patch

Happy thirsty Thursday folks! Today I had a delicious protein shake mixed with bananas and strawberries. I will post the recipe for this delicious shake tomorrow.

Today's post is about a trip Brian and I took to Sean's Pumpkin Patch in Culver City. I've never picked a pumpkin before at an actual pumpkin picking place I usually just pick one out at a grocery store... I know lame right? Anywho, so when we arrived at the Pumpkin Patch I was confused... I asked my boyfriend "where do we actually pick the pumpkin off the vine?" I didn't realize that you just pick one out off the ground... no vine involved. When I heard this four year old Mae popped in my head and she started shouting "Boo! Stupid Pumpkin Patch man! Oh what's that... I smell taco's!" You could say I was easily distracted from a very young age and still am! ADD? Maybe. I know taco's and pumpkin patch's don't usually go hand in hand but in L.A. there's an excuse for taco's for almost any occasion. Below are some picks of Sean's Pumpkin Patch. Enjoy. :)

Birthday Weekend

Hi folks, I hope everyone is having a funtastic Tuesday. I wanted to share with all of you a recent trip Brian and I took together to Laguna Beach. Brian wanted to take me on a mini vacation for my birthday weekend. I chose for us to go to Laguna Beach since we both had never been there and it's not a far drive from L.A. We both had a wonderful time walking around Laguna Beach, hanging out at the beach and hiking and most importantly eating some really delicious food. It was very relaxing and beautiful.

Below are some pics we took of our trip as well as some pictures from my birthday.
 Hope y'all enjoy them.

San Diego Zoo

Hi Folks! Happy Humpday. Half way into the work week just two more days until TGIF! Since it is only Wednesday I will not jump for joy just yet. I will however share with all of you a fun trip Brian and I took recently to the San Diego Zoo. The San Diego Zoo is by far my favorite zoo I have ever visited. There's so much to see that there is actually two different zoo's you could visit. The San Diego Zoo which has hundreds of animals to feast your eyes on and the Safari Park which has a lot of birds and animals that are based in Africa. We decided on the good old San Diego Zoo, we were members of the zoo for a year but unfortunately our memberships have expired recently. (Sigh) I guess that means we have to renew them! Aw Yeah! Below are some pics of some of the animals we were able to visit with during our latest adventure to the SDZ. Yes I meant to say visited because we were able to sit down and have a cup of tea with the animals and discuss world politics, jazz music and Scientology... Just Kidding!

The beautiful greenery.

Boom! Animaltastic! I hope you guys enjoyed my zoo pics. More posts coming your way soon. Until next time have a wonderful day and a funtastic night!

80's Prom Night

Hi friends, happy thirsty Thursday! I hope everyone had a productive and stress free work week. I am very happy that tomorrow is Friday and I'm sure most of you will agree with me when I say TGIF! Speaking of TGIF I kind of miss it. Family Matters was definetly my favorite show followed by Full House as my second favorite.

Anywho, it's totally like me to ramble on about random things before getting to the topic at hand. Today's blog is about a fun night out on the town my babe and some of his pals and I had recently. We went to the House of Blues for their 80's Prom Night they were hosting at their West Hollywood location. It was a fun night but kind of hilarious. When we showed up in our 80's gear we were greeted by a room of people staring at us like we were crazy. Most people were not dressed up and the other half kind of well... half ass it. We literally looked like we were straight from the 80's we literally brought the 80's to the party. Without us their would have been no party... well at least not a 1980's party. Despite the awkward entrance we ended up having a good time and everyone really liked our outfits and took pics of all of us and took pics with us. It was like we were famous or something. We kind of were big deals that night! Anywho below are some pics from our night on the town 80's style!

Brian: Miami Vice hunk Me: Metallica Chick

Well that's all she wrote... literally! bahahha!
I hope you guys had a totally fantaboulous time checking out my bitchin 80's pics. Until next time later days homefry's!

Holiday Party

Happy Friday! It's the Friday before Christmas... and it's dooms day. Oh boy, the Mayans are coming! Not really, I think it's safe to say we are in the clear but if not here is my final post, cherish it!

During the holidays we all have work functions that we have to attend sometimes they are fun and sometimes they are a bit awkward. This year our office planed to have the Holiday Party at BOA Steakhouse. It's a swanky restaurant in West Hollywood. Brian was my date of course and we had a great time eating all of the delicious food and taking in the oh so cool ambiance. We were all dressed up for somewhere super chic to be! The table we were sitting at got to share some funny moments. When the "bread guy" came around to pass out one biscuit per person at the beginning of dinner Brian and I were the only ones who didn't receive any. I thought he probably just ran out and he will bring some more right out asap. Well... some time had gone by and still no bread for the two of us. Brian tracked down the "wine guy" and told him that we never received any bread. The wine guy was like "Oh well, I don't handle the bread I serve the wine but let me try and track someone down for you." Now I know I'm not the most fancy gal in the world but I have been a server at many restaurants and I never once told a customer "Well that's really not in my job description, I don't handle that product but I will find someone who does." Once the bread guy had finally came back with more bread he went around to the table where everyone had already received biscuits and is now handing them their second helping. When he got to our table everyone at our table was trying to explain to the guy that Brian and I never received any bread. The "bread guy" was like "Oh, do you want seconds?" Everyone spoke for us and told him "No they never received any." He just placed the bread on our plates and acted like no big deal. So from than on we all refereed to the servers by the item they were associated with. There was the bread guy, wine guy, menu guy, water guy, coffee guy, appetizer guy, entree guy, dessert guy. Which is kind of strange... I never worked at a restaurant where each worker handled one particular item. I didn't even know that existed. Even though the servers were a bit rude and snobbish we still had a really good time. The food was outstanding and it gave us all an excuse to dress up and enjoy a night out on the town outside of the office. Below are some pictures of the esthetics at BOA and pics of the outfit I wore.
